The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adel Karah Ismailoglu, announced that two metro lines will be built in Istanbul, with a total length of 12.9 km, and he stated that the first line will be on the Asian side of Istanbul in the city of Uskudar.
Fully automatic metro system:
The first fully automated metro system is located in the Uskudar region and extends between Uskudar-cekmekoy and it is 20 km long with 16 stops.
It is an underwater subway that passes under the Bosphorus strait that connects the Asian with the European side of Istanbul. This line will connect the Sirkeci neighborhood to the Kazlicesme neighborhood, covering approximately 8.4 km.
The metro lines approximately cover 251 km of Istanbul, and the number may reach 342 after finishing the current projects.
Additional lines in Istanbul:
Currently, they are working on 6 other lines in Istanbul, which are the Pendik-Tavsantepe-Sabiha Airport line on the Asian side, Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport, Başakşehir-Kayaşehir, the Bakirkoy-Kirazli, and the Halkali-Istanbul Airport lines on the European side of the city.
As for the line which will connect Istanbul Airport with the city center, it will go as planned and will be delivered by the end of the year. It is a metro that will be approximately 37.5 km long, including nine stations. This line will allow the passenger to reach Istanbul Airport by about half an hour, and this will have won the award for being the fastest metro in Turkey at a speed of 120 km / h.
New lines:
The Istanbul municipality stated that there will be several new lines in the coming years, and it is expected that one of them will link Beylikduzu and Anatolian side of Pendik, with a length of 72 km.
